The expression “putting one’s best foot forward” means to try and act as an ideal version of oneself, typically to try to impress others. This is something that every human being does at some point in life and perhaps many times. We feel compelled to not let our guard down in fear of others seeing the real us…but sooner or later, the walls come crashing down. God created you and has seen you from the very beginning until this very moment. He knows the “best foot forward” version of you as well as the real you. And guess what? He loves the real version of you much better.
God, it is a comfort and relief to know that I don't have to keep up a facade and hide the real me to You. You see, and know, all my flaws, weaknesses, and insecurities and still love me. You love me so much, even despite all these shortcomings, that you gave Your life for me. I am forever grateful.
Jeremiah 17:14 – “Heal me, Adonai, and I will be healed. Save me, and I will be saved.”
